Place of transformation and extraction, quarries have always fascinated due to the feeling of immensity that emerges from them, mental effects similar to the perception of ancient ruins in the open air. They also bear the after-effects of a century of industrial intervention on its environment. Extracted then disused, these places now exist as empty zones where human and natural forces continuously intertwine.
The landscape is the compression of singular impressions, the accumulation of confused materials and feelings. Landscape still as an image-witness in time which leaves to each the possibility to extract a glance out of these remains. And finally, landscape touching on the sublime, the sensitive overcoming of forms of a mystical dive into the bowels of time and civilizing history. From the documentary style to the will of abstraction, the images form a multiple corpus which passes from an amplification (burning) of the real to the possibility of fictitious instances (mythologies).

Lieu de transformation et d’extraction, les carrières ont toujours fasciné par le sentiment d’immensité qui s’y dégagent, des effets mentaux similaires à la perception d’anciennes ruines à ciel ouvert. Elles portent en outre les séquelles d’un siècle d’intervention industrielle sur son environnement. Extraits puis désaffectés, ces lieux gisent désormais comme des zones vides où forces humaines et forces naturelles agissent dans un enlacement continuel.
Le paysage est la compression d’impressions singulières, l’accumulation de matériaux et de sentiments confus. Paysage encore comme image-témoin dans le temps qui laisse à chacun la possibilité d’extraire un regard en dehors de ces vestiges. Et finalement paysage touchant au sublime, au dépassement sensible des formes d’une plongée mystique dans les entrailles du temps et de l’histoire civilisatrice. Du style documentaire à la volonté d’abstraction, les images forment un corpus multiple qui passent d’une amplification (brûlure) du réel à la possibilité d’instances fictives (mythologies).
